When I was fifteen, I announced to my English class that I was going towrite and illustrate my own books. Half the students sneered, the rest nearlyfell out of their chairs laughing. “Don’t be silly, only geniuses can becomewriters,” the English teacher said smugly, “And you are getting a D thissemester.” I was so humiliated I burst into tears.
That night I wrote a short sad poem about broken dreams and mailed it tothe Capri’s Weekly newspaper. To my astonishment, they published it and sent metwo dollars. I was a published and paid writer. I had four children at the time, and the oldest was only four. While thechildren napped, I typed on my ancient typewriter. I wrote what I felt. It tooknine months, just like a baby. I chose a publisher at random and put themanuscript in an empty Pampers diapers package, the only box I could find. I’dnever heard of manuscript boxes. The letter I enclosed read, “I wrote this bookmyself, I hope you like it. I also do the illustrations. Chapter six and twelveare my favourites. Thank you.” I tied a string around the diaper box and mailedit without a self addressed stamped envelope and without making a copy of themanuscript.
A month later I received a contract, an advance on royalties, and a requestto start working on another book. Crying Wind, the title of my book, became abest seller, was translated into fifteen languages and Braille and soldworldwide. I appeared on TV talk shows during the day and changed diapers atnight. I traveled from New York to California and Canada on promotional tours.My first book also became required reading in native American schools inCanada.

现在社会普遍流行这种现象：不带手机不时尚，全身上下不是名牌不流行。没事不在网上“闲逛”是老土，看见“底层”劳动者就鄙视，看见明星偶像更疯狂……现在很多人认为生活富裕了，就应该这样过，可是一现在的“富裕”能这样吗?
我国现在经济发展面临人口，文化，科技，资源等多方面的制约。人口过多，老龄化加巨给就业资源带来沉重的压力。有的人来往是专车，居住豪华别墅，身穿名牌，口吃海味，而在农村生活的几十万农民甚至温饱问题还没解决，在城市下岗工人越来越多，他们的生活困难有谁能体会。另外，教育事业发展不平衡，在城市，各种各样的学校令人眼花;在农村，孩子们上学无路，有时候求学却是他们给父母带来的罪过。人才流失严重，在在中国辛辛苦苦培养出来的精英们，却飞向异国他乡，造成科技水平低。只能是他国生产产品的工厂，只能是一个“世界厨房”。自称地大物博，可限于技术水平能被真正利用的资源，又有多少呢?接踵而至的环境问题又扰的人心神不宁了。
看到以上情形，你还以为现在的生活水平值得骄傲吗?你还认为你有骄奢淫逸的资本吗?我们不应居安思危吗?伟大的领袖毛主席曾说过：“中国的革命是伟大的，但革命以后的路更长，工作更伟大，更艰苦”。因此，艰苦奋斗，勤俭节约的传统美德不可抛弃，我们必须劳动“以艰苦奋斗为荣，以骄奢淫逸为耻”。

说到以“安全”为主题的演讲，好像总让人第一时间脑子反映出来的就是“血的教训”或者“响亮的警钟”，仿佛只有一桩桩、一件件触目惊心的惨剧，才能一次次地警示我们，无视安全，死神就在我们身边徘徊，伺机剥夺我们宝贵的健康和生命。实际上我今天要演讲的的主题是“居安思危、防患于未然!”
安全工作无小事，因为它关系着每一个人的生命。要创造一个安全的工作、生活、学习环境就需要每一个人的努力：
在去年夏天一个闷热的下午，管棒厂轧管车间的钳工师傅们正在现场紧张地检修设备，突然一块不起眼的水泥块掉落在安全通道旁边的空地上摔了个粉碎，正在指挥检修的轧管车间高级技师佟德森师傅抬头望了望四周，除了轰鸣作响的轧机和繁忙的天车，就是周围这些挥汗如雨的工人们。可这块水泥块是从哪儿来的呢?厂房的顶棚那么高，远距离看也没什么大的异常现象，可强烈的安全意识让佟师傅当即暂停了检修工作，一定要叫来天车登上接近房顶的地方去查看，当时正在检修的钳工师傅们因为急于赶工作进度，还觉得有点小题大做呢，可上去一看真让人惊出一身冷汗!厂房顶端的风洞因为年久失修，再加上长期的轧机和天车震动，已经有部分水泥风化松动，佟师傅找来一根长棍棒，轻轻一捅，就有一块直径约半米的大块水泥从几十米的高空掉落下去，正砸在地面的安全通道上，这可怕的巨石如果一直没被发现，那后果真是不敢想象。因为这个起因，厂领导立即组织人员对全部厂房的顶部进行了仔细地排查，还真的又发现了好几处隐患，都及时得到了相应的处理。或许你会说：“哪有那么严重?谁会那么倒霉刚好被砸到!”但你是否想过，如果稍有疏忽、安全意识一刹那间离开我们的头脑，那可怕的瞬间，火光电闪之处，一切的美好，企业的兴旺甚至生命的珍贵………都有可能顷刻化为乌有!
在场的同志们一定都熟知，我们所有的“操作动作标准”第一条都是“穿戴好劳保用品”，这句话所表达的信息实际上就是“安全第一”!作为我们普通员工来讲，增强自身的安全意识才是减少人身伤害的最佳途径。
俗话说“君子不立于危墙之下”，能发现哪里是一道危墙，能懂得危墙有可能造成事故，这是一种安全意识;不立于危墙之下是一种安全防范，而对危墙进行加固或拆除危墙才是一种最彻底的安全工作。
还是说说佟师傅。轧管车间的轧机有一道锯切工序，原来的锯切机列上有半包的防护罩，锯片上的锯齿都是镶嵌式的，在锯切过程中可能会出现锯齿蹦出，伤害到操作人员膝盖以下的部位，多年来轧管工人都意识到有些危险，在操作过程中都记得谨慎小心。而佟师傅却觉得仅仅小心是不够的，还应该处处留心，尽最大努力做到放心安心。他根据实际操作经验，改进了锯切手柄的位置，让操作动作更合理，设计制作出了新型的锯切防护罩，消除了锯屑和锯齿飞出伤人的隐患，让工作环境更安全。
我说的这些或许只是最基层的工作人员所做的一些微不足道的小事，假如我们所有人都有良好的安全意识，对安全有一种责任感，细心留意我们身边的每一处隐患，并及时地进行消除，那么我们的身边所发生的各种各样触目惊心的事故就一定能减少许多。
“安全”的意义在于企业生产经营的稳步推进，更在于千家万户的平安与欢乐。不讲安全，哪怕是小小的一个烟头就有可能造成易燃易爆品的瞬间爆炸;不讲安全，哪怕是小小的一个电线破损老化就有可能酿成触电或火灾事故;不讲安全，哪怕是小小的一个螺丝松动就有可能酿成机械事故或人身伤害;不讲安全，哪怕是小小的一个疏忽就有可能使操作中的生命处于危险……

危机，随时可能到来。
我们这一辈的年轻人，在父辈的关爱呵护下享受的太多了!我们听着流行歌曲、吃着美味佳肴，对于未来将要面对的积累竞争熟视无睹，甚至对于临近的中考也毫无紧迫感。不少人浑浑噩噩地生活，眼神里流转的麻木，体现了我们对未来的盲目。我们做着一名和平年代里的的普通学生，享受太平盛世带给我们的富足。以至于我们忘了什么才叫忧患意识，什么才叫危机感。
我们想过没有，如果再这样下去，我们的人生会怎样?我们国家的未来会怎样?

helping every american with autism achieve their full potential is one of this administration’s top priorities. at the u.s. department of health and human services, we continue to strive to meet the complex needs of all people with autism spectrum disorders (asd) and their families. while there is no cure, early intervention is critical and can greatly improve a child’s development.
perhaps the biggest step we’ve taken to support those affected by autism and their families happened over a year ago, with the signing of the affordable care act. now, new insurance plans are required to cover autism screening and developmental assessments for children at no cost to parents. insurers will also no longer be allowed to deny children coverage for a pre-existing condition such as asd or to set arbitrary lifetime or annual limits on benefits.
also, thanks to the new law, young adults are allowed to stay on their family health insurance until they turn 26. for a young adult with autism spectrum disorder and their family, that means peace of mind. it means more flexibility, more options, and more opportunity to reach their full potential.
the marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the negro community must not lead us to distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny and their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom.
ultimately, there is more support for americans with autism than ever before. this means more promise of new breakthroughs that will help us understand autism even better. but in order to continue meeting the needs of people with autism, the combating autism act must be fully reauthorized. we still have a long way to go. working collaboratively with important partners, the affordable care act and the combating autism act will allow us to continue important research and develop and refine vital treatments.
there are still many unknowns. however, one thing is certain. we will continue to work harder than ever to find solutions and provide support to individuals with asd and their families. together, we can help reduce disparities and allow everyone to actualize their greatest potential.
