此景位于岱庙西南角的唐槐院内。唐槐院因原奉祀“延禧真人”，旧称延禧宫，延禧真人是道教第二大神“灵宝天尊”的化身和全权代表，曾被唐玄宗封为泰山主神。但这只是当时唐玄宗急于向道士司马承祯请教道义，权宜之封，唐玄宗在两年前已封泰山神为“天齐王”，后世以此为基础不断加封进爵，只认“天齐王”是泰山神。延禧真人的尊容在天贶殿东半部的“启跸图”中可见，坐在亮轿上，留大胡子的就是他。据此推断他已沦为天齐王的臣属了。后宫殿毁圮，他也就逐渐淡出人们记忆。现仅存门口悬着的“延禧门”匾额。而相传是在唐朝时种植在殿前的槐树，据今已1300余年，虽死犹生，“唐槐”之名日盛，这个院落自然也被称为“唐槐院”了。
走进院内，迎面是一块山形玲珑石，传是淄博人所赠，石上有泰山学者杨辛教授题刻“古槐荫山”。后有汉白玉围栏，栏内有一棵枯死的老槐树，数围中空，如一慈爱的母亲，在怀中抱着一棵相传50年代初所植幼槐。幼槐在母槐的呵护下历经50余年生长，已是高11米，直径半米枝繁叶茂的参天大树了。故得名“唐槐抱子”，俗称“槐(怀)中抱子”。
创造此景有五说：
一说：1948年1949年连续两次补种未活，1950年岱庙道长尚士廉与岱西村村长王宝其等人再植，遂成今景。是尚道长根据“景中造景”“槐(怀)中抱槐”的意境构思命名。
二说：1948年因连年战火，古建筑尽毁，泰安区中心卫生院在此建院至1955年迁出，就是今天的泰安市中心医院。1952年一王姓青工在此树内种植一棵小槐，因当时老槐尚有一枝存活，此人还受到了当时院领导的批评。中心医院院志有记载，现市中心医院院内有纪念石刻为记。
三说：刚解放时，唐槐院是个大杂院，居民杂居其中，据当年房管所老人回忆，老槐中的小槐是房管所一王姓工人所植。
四说：植树人叫王英兰，2006年她71岁，给我市焦ⅩⅩ来信称:槐中之槐是她1944年种的，是从岱庙城墙上移过来的。王女士是1935年生人，当年九岁。
五说：小槐是1953年所植。该记载仅此一句。
笔者查阅相关资料，发现在我省尚有多处与此相近或相同的景点。又询问专业人士称，槐树生长到一定年岁，中空现象很普遍。树中长树，多是自然形成，也有不少是人为所致。槐(怀)中抱子寓意美好，不少有文化的人喜好此道。因此笔者较赞成创造此景的第一种说法。
延续生命，老树新枝，枯木逢春。毕竟是泰山人用自己的智慧与唐代先人神交物合，创造出了这一寓意美好的景致，为后人凭添了情趣。何人所植不重要。
