In my hometown, the air is polluted seriously. However, in recent years, the pollution gets from bad to worse, because of the increasing number of private cars. Especially during the rush hours, too many private vehicles move slowly on narrow roads, emitting a large amount of waste gas. Moreover, the poisonous gas sent by the nearby factories is also one of the main causes of pollution. Therefore, it’s demanded that immediate and effective measures must be taken to restrict private cars and public transportation must be developed to the largest extent. Besides, we should use renewable and clean energy recourses.

放眼望去，街道上随处可见的是什么？是各种各样的车！现在大多数的人都有属于自己的车，可是各种车放出来的尾气污染到了城市。可以想象，每天有多少辆汽车从道路上驶过，空气中会汇聚多少汽车尾气，然而使空气被污染。

对付这些顽固的空气污染源，我们当然也得采取一些“手段”。首先，我们可以去做关于“吸烟有害健康”的宣传活动，向人们提出少吸烟、甚至不吸烟的建议。然后，我们要尽量减少以自己开车的方式出行，最好是乘坐公共汽车或者骑自行车、甚至是步行。如果每天道路上的车都减少几十辆，那么我们城市的空气污染也将缓缓减弱。最后，我们需要提倡多多植树造林，树木可以吸走空气中的一些有害气体，并且产生出新的纯净物供给人类呼吸。这样，我们城市的空气污染也将慢慢减少。
所以，从今天起，从现在起，我们每一个人都要做环保先锋，我们要一起与空气污染做斗争，我们要保卫我们的城市，使我们的城市真正变成一个健康的、没有污染的城市，变成一个真正的绿色家园。

Automobile， trains， planes and busses need energy， too. Nearly all of this energy is produced by burning fuels. The burning produces wastes， some of which remain in the air， causing air pollution.
Scientists are finding ways to stop air pollution especially in big industrial areas and densely-populated cities.
They are studying new ways of generating electricity that may be less damaging to the environment. In the meantime， many power plants are being modernized to give off less polluted material.
Also， engineers try to design and locate new power plants to do minimum damage to the environment. However， it may be that we still have a long way to go before we have a “clean” world. Nearly all of the countries are trying hard to prevent and control air pollution.
There indeed seems to be no end to tasks that environmentalists will be required to do. People will continually find new ways to control pollution.
