英语教学新理念注重以人为本，倡导快乐学习，自主学习效应。兴趣是学习的原动力，学生对所学的内容感兴趣，学习才更具自主性，学习效果才更佳。教师们是深谙此道理的。然而，真正切实做到，却并非易事。英语教师们在教授学生知识过程中，应该明确，学生们只有热爱英语这门语言，并在学习过程中，体会到语言学习的快乐，语言的学习才能持久，自觉地达到。因此，教师应在教学过程中注重培养学生热爱英语语言的美好情结。
现行的新教材根据新课程标准的精神和学生的认知规律和学习特点而编写，它的选材和教学活动的设计充分考虑到学生年龄特征和他们生理和心理发展的需要。例如，名人、音乐、体育、文学、艺术、语言文明礼貌友谊饮食文化幽默等题材能够激发青年学生学习的兴趣，而教材中许多鲜活的人和事都足以引起学生思想情感的共鸣。因此，我们可以充分地以教本为依据，为我所用。
首先，教师可从各个方面，运用各种方式让学生感受体验英语语言的美妙丰富并激发学生浓厚的学习兴趣。例如，在教授english poetry这一课文之前，我先给学生介绍了几篇英文小诗，先吊起了学生们的“胃口”，接着以时间为线索，将英国和中国历史上同一时期的诗人进行列表对比，并特别提问学生，从课文中抽出一个有趣的对比。其中william wordsworth， george gordon byron，john keats三位诗人与中国古代著名诗人杜甫和李白，而john donne与苏东坡诗歌作品的相似讲到诗歌和文学是东西方的桥梁，学生豁然明白了结尾mu dan的那句英文诗的深远含义：

学生们的心融进了那美妙的诗句中。在学习领略了英国的诗人和诗歌后，快结束课程时，我将课本后的那首英文原创歌曲right here waiting 教授给他们，他们一个个兴高采烈，情绪激昂，深深领略了英文的美妙声音。之后，我把握时机，还利用课余教会他们浅显的英文歌如take me to your heart。学生们经过老师的精心组织，学习语言的兴趣与日俱增。
在讲授freedom fighters这一单元时，我将martin luther king的著名演说i have a dream打印出来，分发给大家。在课文教学后段，我先简洁地概述了这个演说内容及大致情况，接着，播放英文原版的演说录音，同学们兴致高昂地聆听着，感受着美国历史上那位神圣伟大的为争取自由平等权利的马丁路德金那充满磁性的极富感召力的演说，在极富渲染色彩的氛围中，领略着马丁·路德·金铿锵有力的英文独白，同时他们的心灵被一伟大博爱的革命家深深地震憾着，真正体验着英语语言的那份魅力。索绕在他们的耳畔，令他们永远不能忘怀演讲中马丁·路德·金发自肺腑的感慨、渴望。

以此，学生们的思想情操受到熏陶，也使他们加强了对语言的热爱。从此，学生们的学习兴趣更浓了，信心也更足了。
再而，在语言的学习过程中，我还让学生去领略发现那些有趣的语言差异和文化差异，发展学生学习英语的兴趣，增进对语言的酷爱。如在american english and british english单元中，我将voa和bbc的两段录音分别录制下放给学生听，让他们先对两者的语音差异有一些感性认识，再而讨论总结美式和英式英语的不同之处，进而促使学生产生一种强烈的求知欲，从而结合课文，进一步了解美式和英式英语的差异，加深了他们的印象，加强了学习效果。
在body language一单元中，为了吸引学生的兴趣，我先把一些表示性格差异的词汇列在黑板上，如outgoing ，easygoing，kind, reserved，independent，straightforward，open-minded ,conservative, warm-hearted， cold等等,再把英、美、阿拉伯、中国等国名列出，让学生配对，看谁做得恰到好处。接着，导入课文，来了解人们交流时，人与人站立距离的远近差异，也体现了心理上的距离及交友、待客、生意洽谈等方式的差别，并让学生进行了简单的情景表演。以此方式，学生们既增长了见识，丰富了语言，又增添了学习的趣味性。
提倡任务型英语教学，要使学生清楚、明确语言学习目标，加强学习语言的目的性，减少盲目性。
尽管学了几年英语，不少高中生在发言中，口头表述上及书面表达上常会出现舍本求末，主次不清，离题万里的现象;有些学生甚至连基本的实用性文章如书信、介绍性、申请书、通知、说明书等体裁都分不清，更不用说流畅地用英语自如地表达自己了。
究其原因，大家不难看出，这不是一时半会造成的结果。应该看到，长期以来，学生们口头上、书面上未受到系统全面的语言训练，造成学生语言学习目标不明确，不清晰，甚至不知晓自己所说、所写的项目是什么，真正该怎样表达。新教材的每个单元前面都呈现了教学目标，教学重点及教学任务，表面上看，学生学习的目标性更明确了，盲目性减少，更具有指导性，更利于他们的探究性学习，自主学习。但认真思索，教师的指导、点拨、点透对学生们明确学习目标、要求仍不可缺失。教师在教学过程中，对学生要进行语言表达的系统训练，以使他们更加清楚、明确语言学习目标，加强学习语言的目的性。诚然，训练步骤宜严谨有序、有条不紊。“教无定法，贵在得法”。在这方面，我首先让学生清楚自己要做什么。我经常组织学生用英语进行话题讨论，口述作文。如在good friends这一单元中，我让学生口头表述他的一位好友，开始时，我问了他两个启发性问题：
a.what qualities should a good friend have?
b.should they be rich， loyal or handsome?
再将一些表述人性格品质的形容词列举在黑板上，这样，他介绍朋友时，更具目标性，更轻松简单了。在让学生描述一系列正在进行的画面时，首先，我让他们确定了主体时态，随即，根据这些画面上的人物动作，把主要的重点词汇让学生事先概括展现在黑板上，继而让学生添加上适当的时间标志的过渡词，如first， next， then，finally或first， second， third， last等。最后，让学生进行完整的口头表述。对于发议论，讲述看法、观点的表述上，我预先教授他们一些过渡词如first， secondly， thirdly， last;for one thing，for another;on one hand，on the other hand; however， besides， what‘s more ， so ， therefore， because等等。这样一来，他们往日羞于开口的一幕不见了，学生们踊跃回答，学习气氛更浓了。
课堂上，除进行特定专门的口头训练以外，在课前五分钟及课后时间，我也不放松对他们的语言训练。课前5分钟，我要学生轮流用英文做值日快报，天气变化，好人好事，校内外，国内外重大新闻等小报道。课后，我定期布置学生写英语 周记，英语命题作文。特别是与高考接轨的英语命题作文，我限定学生进行特定体裁的英文写作。在每周的命题作文之前，我总是事先把体裁的类型及类似的范文预先介绍给学生，再而是该文相应的主体时态及重点词汇给学生逐项列出。学生们的作文规范多了，老师最难批阅的东西，学生们最惧怕的一项改变了，学生和老师都体会到了学和教的轻松和喜悦。一段时间下来，学生们对各种体裁的作文都了如指掌了，口头上、书面上的英文表达也更条理、规范化了。
与学生构建和谐融洽的新型师生关系，创建轻松、愉悦的学习氛围。
现代教学新理念提倡师生共建和谐关系，利于创建轻松、明快的学习氛围。这个提法看似简单，而要真正办到，实则不易。试想一个纯粹动辄板起面孔说教、动辄粗暴训斥、恶语伤害学生与学生关系紧张的教师能够构建和谐的师生关系，创建良好的学习氛围。心理学家苏霍姆林斯基说“教育技巧的全部奥秘也就在于如何爱护儿童。”实践证明，情感是教育中最美丽的花朵。因此，教师因势利导，持之以恒地巧设“情感支点，”定能以情动人。教师若能真正从心底里爱护学生，在学习上、生活上帮助他们，定能拉近与学生心理上的距离，与他们成为知悉的朋友，与学生构建轻松和谐的关系。2005年我作高二文科尖子班的班主任。当时的那个班有相当一部分学生都属于“留守孩子”，即父母常年出外打工，而将子女一人留在家中或交给老人看管，这样的孩子问题往往是最多的，特别典型的就是孤僻，缺乏管束、懒散，而我对他们以诚相待，在生活上关爱他们，在学习上倾注全部的心血帮助他们。除了在学习目的，人生观的教育之外，我始终以身作则，坚持早晚跟班追踪管理，总是最早到、最晚走。生病了也一如既往走上讲台，带病讲课辅导学生;经常向闹情绪的学生诚挚讲述自己在校求知的感受，教育他们珍惜青春，激发他们为国家、自身发愤读书。最后我硬是赢得了同学们的信任，赢得了他们的爱戴。至今，那个班的学生还念念不忘师恩，屡次打来电话，问候老师。
现代的教学理念，倡导轻松活泼的学习氛围，来充分调动学生的内部动机，使他们能积极参与学习。这就要求新型的教师应极具亲和力、富于幽默风趣的人格魅力，以创建轻松愉悦的学习氛围。与此同时，又可培养学生大方得体善与人沟通的能力。若一位教师古板、生硬、不为言笑，学习气氛沉闷紧张，学生的情绪受到抑制，很难想象学生会思维活跃，富于创建性。反之，一位教师外表端庄，衣着整洁，和蔼亲切，又轻松活跃，学生才会觉得可爱可近可信，缩短了师生的心理差距，学生们看到谈吐大方，待人热情，穿着朴素的老师，在课堂上，他们能不轻松愉悦，才思泉涌吗?
幽默，是学识与智慧联姻后的精品，是调剂人际关系，联络感情的润滑剂，倍受当代人欢迎。如今学生心目中的理想老师是少不了“幽默”这点的。在紧张的学习中，适当地幽默调侃一下是必要的。在今年我带的高一年级，大多女生都较害羞，回答问题不主动，我时不时添些幽默调味品，使她们心理上轻松下来，她们更乐于回答问题了。
教师充满人格魅力的又一特点是多用鼓励性语言在口头上及课业上激励学生的英语学习，使学生们坚定学习信心。我在课堂上注意多用恰当的鼓励性的语言如：great，well-done，a good idea， wonderful， congratulations on your success等等鼓励学生，激发他们热爱学习.课业批改上,我也爱用些鼓励性的话去勉励学生,使他们树立学习信心.有时,提问题,学生如被卡住了,我则会注意降低难度,符合学生的实际水平,使他们有话可谈.教师应从各个方面知悉学生,关爱他们，以自身的人格魅力感染他们，做他们学习上的引路人，生活上成为他们可以信赖的朋友。
坚持课文整体教学，培养学生的概括综合思维能力;兼以复述能力的培养来提高书面表达能力
现代教学理论讲求语言教学的整体性、完整性，而避免孤立、单一。中国很大一部分英语学习者学了几十年的英语，除了会说零星的支离破碎的词汇，几句简单句子，根本无法做到用英语与人进行自如地交流沟通，更不用说研读高深的英文文学科技篇目，显然学习者缺乏语言的概括能力，缺乏语言的整体意识。教师应有意识地训练学生以文段、整个名子，以意群来识记语言，而不是仅仅单纯的孤立的及支离破碎的单词、词组。
1、坚持整体教学，培养学生的概括语言能力及综合思维能力。
教师在教授一个语言项目，一篇课文时，应以整体而不是局部呈现语言，指导学生以意群而不是简单的个别单句识记语言。课堂上要贯穿整体教学原则，注重培养学生的综合概括语言的能力，而不是单纯地、孤立地、简单机械的零星词汇的展示。在课文整体教学时，要弱化琐碎零星的语言知识点讲解，要给学生以一木见一林之感，让学生形成完整的成为一体的语篇理解。
如在going places 这一单元课文adventure travel教学中，我采用提纲概括式进行教学。首先，我以几个贯穿连缀全文的问题发问学生。

what’s hiking ? what’s rafting?
what safety tips have been given for hiking and rafting?
然后，叫学生总结各段主题大意，缀成提纲。

最后再总结一些语言点及儿个特殊句式。一节课下来，学生对主题有了更完整的认识，而不是零星、孤立的几个词、词组的学习，培养学生语言的概括能力。
(2)以复述能力的培养来提高学生运用高级词汇、高段句子结构进行表述的书面表达能力。
严谨有序、有条不紊的复述能力的培养即是运用语言，将口头表达能力进而迁移到书面表达能力上的一个重要过程，因此，精心组织好复述课文是提高学生整体能力、书面表达能力的关键。
要组织好复述，首先应帮助学生透彻地理解课文内容。我在教授学生课文时，常先概括性口述课文内容，让他们感知课文材料，理解课文的主旨大意。接着常以贯穿全文的几个问题提问学生，先可是一些概括性的问题，再而是一些具体的稍难的细节性问题，以循序渐进的方式让学生逐渐加深对课文的理解;接着，要求学生进行“泛读”即浏览一下课文，进一步感知课文材料，进一步弄懂课文内容;最后，可将课文中的重点句型、词汇、惯用法，尽可能以提纲式具体呈现，先口述后板书在黑板上，以便学生进一步复述有所借鉴。
在复述方式上，可根据课文的难易程度，课文不同的体裁，而灵活采用不同的方法。
(1)机械性复述：如课文难度较大，可大致借助课文内容进行复述。此外，还可利用课文的有关插图或教师自制图画进行。
(2)灵活性复述。尽可能要求学生用自己的语言对课文内容、情节重新组织复述出来。如教师可让学生改变课文的体裁进行：将对话戏剧改成故事;用改变人称的方法进行复述等。这实际上是一种写作实践，这样会促使学生在“听、说、读、写”的过程中发挥自己的主观能动性。
(3)创造性复述。它要求学生最大程度地发挥主观能动作用，进行合理的想象。对课文内容，情景作重新按排，然后复述出来。如在unforgettable experiences单元中，可运用课文中的一些句型和短语，让学生结合自己的难忘经历，创造性地将课文与亲身经历结合进行复述，这不失为一篇好作文。
因此，整体的课文教学及复述能力的培养不失为提高学生概括能力、书面表达能力等综合能力的有益方法。
五、让学生积极利用课外机会捕捉语言习得。
课外学习是课堂学习的延伸，只有积极主动地积攒课外时机，深化语言学习，才能真正扎实掌握语言。
高中学生的每日时间安排得很紧，我就给他们组织了一周一次碰头的英语兴趣小组，教师专门来进行组织点评。平日则由学生们自己安排，他们互相交流学习方法，心得，互帮互助，形成了你追我赶的学习劲头;我坚持创设新型课业，一改传统的笔头作业方式。如我经常要求学生去农村、城镇等部门进行社会调查，或在报刊、网络等上面查寻信息、资料。用英文写调查表，科学观察小论文，或电影、电视剧、书籍评论，我进行专门批阅，再由学生向全班同学朗读汇报，以提高他们的课外语言实践能力。这些活动的开展，增加了学生练习语言技能的机会，学生们的潜力得以发挥，长处得以发扬，而个别学生的学习困难也在课外活动中得到了解决。
教师应坚持贯彻用英语教学，为学生创设真实的语言情境，并积极拓宽加深自身的业务素质。
新的教学理念提倡教师要为学生创设真实的语言情境。教师在日常教学中应贯彻实施用英文教学，利用课堂这块重要阵地，给学生营造一个真实浓郁的语言环境和学习氛围，让学生形成用英语思维，时时处处说英语、用英语的好习惯。“熟能生巧”，习惯变成自然，学生们在课堂上会情不自禁地想说英语，爱说英语。
现在我执教的高一年级，平时我注重用英语与他们进行交流，课堂上几乎不讲汉语，长此以往，许多最初不敢说不愿说英语的同学慢慢地也习惯了用英语交流，先是简单的词、单句、词组，现如今，很多同学会以长句、段与我交流。看着他们每一次的进步，他们那一双双由于成功而闪闪发光的眼睛，我更加坚定了信心。
日本谚语云：提灯的人要永远走在队伍的前面。而教师即是如此。随着新的教学理念的深入课堂，教师的观念也应随着调整转变，我们的知识也应及时更新，自身及时充电才能跟上时代。我们每一位英语教师，只有不断地积极地拓宽，加深提高自身的业务素质，才能适应新教材的严要求，才能轻松应对新的机遇和挑战。
