西瓜通常在夏天成熟。那时，路边都是来卖瓜的瓜农。颜色也不像桔子那么鲜艳，让人看了它很清淡，淡绿色的表皮，看上去像是刚发芽的小草；要是深一点，有如深绿色的、波浪形的纹身。
西瓜不仅表皮很美，西瓜瓤更是货真价实的。你看，那西瓜皮薄薄的，再看看西瓜瓤，通红通红的，这是正宗的薄皮沙瓤大西瓜呀！其实，西瓜不仅看上去很好看，吃上去味很美，吃起来却是甜甜的、凉凉的，好像一口甘甜的泉水从喉咙里滑过。
