You Have Interviewed Three People for

An Engineering Job in Your Company.

~ ~ ~ ~ excellent/very good   ~ ~ ~ good   ~ ~ fair   ~ poor

Three candidates came to apply for an engineering job in my company. I interviewed them one by one and obtained the necessary information about each of them.

Person A's general appearance is excellent and the recommendation from his previous employer has proven that he is a very good man. However, his educational background is just so so and he is weak in speaking and writing. Person B has ability in speaking and writing makes me disappointed and I wonder why he is not strongly recommendedby his previous employer. Person C can very well Communicate in speaking and writing and both his educational background and the recommendation from his former employer are equally good, except for the fact that the general opinions about him are not in favour of him.

Well, everybody has his good points and shortcomings and my three applicants are no exceptions.

Then, the problem is which one I should choose and which one is the most suitable for the position?

Before the choice is made, I think it is necessary to point out that we need a person who can do engineering job well. As an engineeror a technician, the person to be chosen must have a solid educational foundation, must be capable of expressing his ideas both in speaking and writing. In addition, he must be hard, working. Good record of his previous work is, also very important because it serves as an objective evaluation of his past career.

After giving a careful consideration to the problem, I have finally decided to offer each of them an equal opportunity to work for a probation period of three months. By then, I think I will be able to select the one who best
